“I prophesy that the time will not come when the music of
these waves will cease to echo in the memories of Barton’s sons, when the voice of our
night shall lose its melody, or the spirit of unselfish service engendered here shall have
passed away; for when our sons, like Odysseus, behold the rosy-fingered dawn, they
will stand erect before their Creator, tasting that divine reverence which leads to an
appreciation of all that is beautiful and true.”
Samuel D. Bogan,
July 15th, 1927 -Address of Dedication
Be part of the Service Corps; give back to Camp Barton & Frontenac Point through your skills & resources
The CBSAA is the only form of adjunct support established for Camp Barton. Our goal is to continuously pull together various forms of charitable action in order to support the health and longevity of Frontenac Point such that Camp Barton's home is preserved.
Material & Equipment Needs that can be donated are not limited to our current listing however it is important that the items are in functioning condition.
The CBSAA Service Corps is the workforce for camp. We need volunteers to get out to camp and tackle projects identified throughout the calendar year. We need donations of your time and skills. We know that both our membership and the surrounding communities have the ability to provide in this way. This is the culture that allows for the best Scout camps to thrive. The Service Corps for Camp Barton is the gateway to its future. We must have local, able, willing, and skilled individuals come forth to partake in our work events.
Service Projects are the mechanism by which the CBSAA & Scouts alike can contribute to the health of Frontenac Point. Service pertain to facilities, programs, landscapes, wildlife, and conservation. The Service Corps will serve as the central support network for the Three Falls LDC and the NYS Dept. of Parks, Rec. and Historical Preservation. The Service Corps will remain available and steadfast to ensure that Camp Barton remains represented at Frontenac Point.
In Scouting, service is a fundamental element of advancement, and upholding the oath we take. In the community, we can use Camp Barton, and service opportunities as a model for the collective effort’s citizens hold obligation to engage in. We must re-establish the momentum we once had, and spread the enthusiasm and pride that is achieved when engaging in support of something like a Scout camp or State Park. We hold the opportunity in our hands and now is our chance to seize it.
