Founded in 1855 at Miami University,  "Sigma Chi" means a brotherhood focused on core values: Friendship, Justice, and Learning, aiming to develop high-minded, responsible leaders through character, scholarship, and community service.

In 1910 Lord Robert Baden-Powell introduces Scouting to the United States.

In 1915, at Treasure Island Scout Reservation,  E. Urner Goodman & Carroll A. Edson establish the Order of the Arrow.

In 1922, at Camp Barton, Samuel D. Bogan, alongside several early Camp Barton leadership & staff, develop "Chi Sigma" meaning "Camp Spirit" - a fraternal organization within the camps operations implemented to highlight Scouts who exemplified the highest of core values and to establish the benchmark for camp culture.  Chi Sigma would expand, adding a chapter in the Quinnipiac Council of New Haven Connecticut in 1934.

Chi Sigma was the benchmark for accomplishment, and a Scouts' induction was often the pinnacle of their Scouting experience. Chi Sigma would go on to serve Camp Barton & Camp Sequassen until November 19th of 1947 when Chi Sigma Lodge #368 & #369 were adopted by the Order of the Arrow, which was now a nationally recognized institution of the Boy Scouts of America.

On May 16, 2023, The Camp Barton Staff Alumni Association Executive Board placed forth a resolution to re-instate Chi Sigma as an Honors Fraternity within the association and in doing so, as homage to its foundations, Chi Sigma shall again exist in service of Camp Barton. Chi Sigma shall again reflect the benchmark of the associations core principlea alwhile properly highlighting and formally recognizing its inducted membership. Chi Sigma will reflect many of the foundations of this historic fraternity, and recognize those who have not only dedicated themselves to the operations of Camp Barton, but as well to the growth of the Camp Barton Staff Alumni Association.

Below are the members of the Camp Barton Staff Alumni Association's Chapter of Chi Sigma whom have been formally inducted. Additionally included below, are those who were previously inducted into the original chapter of Chi-Sig - pre Order of the Arrow, or within OA Lodge #368, and are posthumously recognized members of the CBSAA

Each of these individuals has had a profound impact on Camp Barton, its operations, its spirit, its character, and its survival. They are the reason Camp Barton is Camp Barton to us all. They shall be forever enshrined within Chi-Sigma.

Their contributions shall never go without acknowledgment, and their memory shall never waver throughout time.
